1. Platform Identity & Purpose
Important Notice:
DITHub is an independent social platform created by students for students and members of the Dar es Salaam Institute of Technology (DIT) community. This is an unofficial student-driven project and is not an official administrative portal of the Institute. It does not replace official institutional information systems (such as SARIS or OSIM).
Our mission is to empower student connectivity, foster open and constructive peer-to-peer discussions, promote student societies and technology clubs, and share career and internship opportunities within a modern, user-friendly digital space.
2. Account & Password Security
We employ industry-standard security safeguards to ensure your account remains safe and protected:
-
Cryptographic Password Protection (PBKDF2 / SHA-256): Your password is never stored in plain text. It is securely hashed using one-way cryptographic algorithms with unique cryptographic salts. No one, including platform administrators, can see or access your actual password.
-
Encrypted Data Transmission (SSL / HTTPS): All communications between your device and DITHub servers are encrypted using 256-bit SSL/TLS encryption, safeguarding your credentials from network interception.
-
Safeguard Your Credentials: We encourage users to maintain a strong, unique password and avoid sharing credentials with anyone. DITHub staff will never ask for your password.
3. Data Privacy & Student Rights
Your privacy is paramount. We handle student data with transparency and care:
-
Zero Data Selling: We do not sell, rent, or lease your email address, phone number, or personal account details to any third-party advertisers or external corporations.
-
Profile Ownership: You retain complete control over your profile. You may customize or update your avatar, cover photo, bio, course details, and account settings at any time.
-
Anonymous Campus Confessions: Posts and replies on the Campus Confessions board are published anonymously to foster open self-expression and community dialogue without fear of peer judgment.
4. Community Guidelines & Safety
To maintain a safe, welcoming, and constructive environment for all students, all community members agree to:
- Respectful Interaction: Treat fellow students with courtesy. Hate speech, harassment, bullying, sexual misconduct, and threats of violence are strictly prohibited.
- Authenticity & Anti-Fraud: Fraudulent activities, spamming, impersonation, or publishing counterfeit listings in the Student Marketplace or Opportunities boards will result in immediate suspension.
- Content Moderation & Reporting: Every post includes a Report button. Users are encouraged to report any inappropriate content so our community moderators can promptly review and take action.
